A little about meIn 2003, I graduated Swedish massage school, I love massage, my clients and the gifts of therapeutic "healing" touch I’ve learned. Following my first license, I went on to other diverse modalities including Sports, NeuroMuscular, and Thai (twice in Lanna, Thailand, Levels 1-5), among others. Those trainings, along with my long-time clients, helped to prepare me for National Certification with the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) - which I earned in June of 2006. In 2013, NCBTMB offered the new highest available credential that I received in June of the following year, the Board Certification.
My journey in health & wellness has taken me many places, from myotherapy to EMT / Paramedic (2010/12) and advanced training with NOLS & WMI (National Outdoor Leadership School & Wilderness Medicine Institute) during the Fall of 2013. In 2020, the "Year of the Nurse" celebrating Florence Nightingale's 200th Birthday, I too earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)! I am currently in pursuit of my Master in Public Health. |
Why I do what I do I believe that I, as a Massage Therapist (or paramedic or even nurse for that matter) do not alone heal - for it is the individual who heals themselves, directly or indirectly, you have to "want" to get better. What I do believe is that I am a tool for someone to use on their journey, and for that, I am grateful. I try and see the world holistically, where I offer parts of the whole, just as Western Medicine also offers parts, the goal, in my opinion is to truly complement one another. The following is one of my favorite quotes on medicine:
“The Doctor of the Future will give no medicine but will interest "their" patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease…” -Thomas A. Edison |
