A little about me
I started massage training in 2003 and have continued my schooling in diverse modalities ranging from Swedish, Sports, NeuroMuscular, Thai (twice in Lanna, Thailand, trained in Levels 1-5), and various others to prepare me for the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork which I passed in June of 2006. In June of 2014, I obtained Board Certification, the highest attainable level in the massage profession.
I continue to push myself within my life & career passions of Massage, Medicine, & Wilderness. I became a Licensed Paramedic in May 2012. In December 2013, I completed a 3 month semester for Outdoor Educators specializing in Backcountry medicine/rescue and Wilderness trek guiding within hiking, rock climbing, canyons, & winter as well as my "Leave No Trace" Master Certificate through NOLS & WMI (National Outdoor Leadership School & Wilderness Medicine Institute). Currently I am working toward my BSN.
Why I do what I do
I believe that I, as a Massage Therapist do not heal - for it is the individual who heals themselves. What I do believe is that I am a tool for someone to use on their journey, and for that, I am grateful. I try and see the world holistically, where I offer parts of the whole, just as Western Medicine also offers parts, the goal, in my opinion is to truly complement one another. The following is one of my favorite quotes on medicine:
“The Doctor of the Future will give no medicine but will interest "their" patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease…”
-Thomas A. Edison
There is more on my horizon, but that is still in the creation phase. After my three month outdoor training and not doing any massages, I truly missed it and has only reinforced my love for what I do, and I look forward to serving you as well.
